While most consider the Emmy awards less than entertaining (we agree) –we all tune in to see the threads worn by Hollywood’s elite. Quite honestly we are definitely long overdue for a night filled with fashion moments that we can speak about for years. Not too sure this year’s award show delivered this, but there were some fashion winners that kept us interested.
Sarah Paulson-We were green with envy after witnessing this beauty strut across the red carpet in this Prada ensemble. Styled to perfection she completed her look with Wilfredo Rosado earrings, and Brian Atwood Shoes. Sarah took home the win for Lead Actress in a limited series or movie for her role in The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.
Kerry Washington –The 39 yr old actress is breaking the internet for all the right reasons. Embracing her natural hair, and baby bump, Scandal star stunned us in a Brandon Maxwell gown/masterpiece all while dazzling us with her curly tress. Kerry gave us all the natural hair inspo we can handle in one moment, and happy to see she is using a platform like the red carpet to embrace her natural hair so that young girls that look up to her can feel comfortable to be themselves and not conform to societies expectations to “tame” or straighten their hair.
Tracee Ellis Ross– Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross, stepped on to the red carpet in true goddess form in a white Ralph Lauren Gown. She was perfectly styled for her attendance at the award show, being the first black lead comedy actress nominee in 30 years. Although she didn’t take home the win, she sure won us over with her outfit (as always) with her beautifully matched personality.
Taraji P Henson –Cookie delivered full on slayage on the red carpet this year, being nominated for a second time for Lead actress in a Drama Series for her role on the hit show Empire on FOX. The 46 year old actress (melanin award goes to her) wore a yellow spaghetti strapped gown by designer Vera Wang, servicing us with an effortless chic silhouette. She definitely turned heads; Kudos to her stylist Jason Bolden, who always styles to kill.
Claire Danes –We will excuse the ever so chic Claire Danes for her overdone spray tan that left her a not so appealing orange. She made up for that mishap and dazzled us with a sparkly gold Haute Couture gown by Schiaparelli. The gowns leaf petal design in the back was an added bonus, and thankfully distracted us from her awful attempt at achieving a natural glow.
Priyanka Chopra: Red on the Red Carpet, predictable YES.. however the “Quantico” Star showed us how to pull of a red gown, and still stand out, hence she made the list. Designer: Jason Wu
