89th Annual Oscars Highlights

Jimmy Kimmel hosted the 89th annual Oscar awards on ABC last night, marking his first time as the host and delivered an entertaining and humorous production. Many other firsts took place which made this year a bit more exciting to watch (a diversion from the usual snooze fest). Justin Timberlake set the tone for the night and opened the show with a musical performance of “Cant Stop the Feeling” from the animated movie “Trolls”, and had everyone in the audience on their feet leaving us all wanting him to come out with another album.

The Big winner of the night was “La La Land” …wait we mean “Moonlight” for best picture. For those that didn’t have a chance to watch the show until the end, you missed presenter Warren Beatty hand an Oscar to the cast of “La La land”, announce that it was a mistake, and that the real winner for the category was “Moonlight”. The audience was in disbelief and thought it was a joke, but soon realized it was real and later celebrated the win.  Mahershala Aali won his first Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in “Moonlight” and Viola Davis won her first academy award for Best Supporting actress in “Fences” also making history as being the first African American actress to win an Emmy, Tony, and Oscar for acting.

Some may say the real winner of the night was Gary from Chicago. (Let the Memes begin) Midway through the show Jimmy ushered in a number of tourists and surprised them with a walk through of the Dolby theatre and allowed them to walk along the front row and meet and greet A-listers including Ryan Gosling, Jennifer Anniston, Denzel Washington, and Halle Berry.

We think that this will be one of the most talked about Oscars, and Jimmy will return as host next year.
